MORE than 30 elderly people in Merstham, Redhill and Reigate had their special day ruined when roadworks started early, trapping their minibus on Friday.
Age Concern had organised a full day of activities, with a hot lunch, at its centre in Weldon Way, Merstham. But when the manager, Vicki Newton, arrived at 8.30am today, she was aghast to find a full team of contractors in the road with five large vehicles breaking up the road for resurfacing.
